Search Engine Optimisation

About Search Engine Optimsiation (SEO)

SEO stands for “search engine optimisation.” It’s the practice of increasing both the quality and quantity of website traffic, as well as exposure to your brand, through non-paid (also known as “organic”) search engine results. Despite the acronym, SEO is as much about people as it is about search engines themselves.

Experienced SEO Team

Trafficon has a team of search engine optimisation specialists with a decade worth of experience improving search engine ranking and user experience of websites. Our SEO service is delivered mostly in-house and does not contracting low quality third-party service providers (e.g. Fiverr) or from freelance service marketplaces in other countries.

When choosing a SEO agency, the team’s working experience plays a big part in the quality of deliverables. We have a passionate team of people who are eager to apply their experience optimising enterprise websites to small-to-medium businesses and meet your business goals.

Grow your brand exponentially with quality SEO

The multiple aspects of search engine optimisation – on-page optimisation, content optimisation, technical optimisation and backlinks – all play a critical role in improving search engine ranking and exposure of websites. Our SEO team is guided by marketing and branding experts to embed the history and vision of businesses in our service and support the other aspects of marketing.

Search engine optimisation is only one part of the bigger marketing puzzle. Our SEO team applies our understanding of the algorithm to improve awareness on search engine while our other teams can support other aspects of your marketing strategy.

What’s included in our SEO Service

Proven growth strategies for search engine and your business

On-Page SEO

On-page search engine optimisation focuses on improving the page headings, content, links, images and overall experience of web pages that lead to the ultimate goal of improving the page’s search engine ranking. Our on-page SEO covers all aspects with in-house website developers, copywriters and user experience designers to realise the benefits of search engine optimisation.

Off-Page SEO

Off-page SEO also referred to as Link Building, is the strategy to build referral links from other websites to positively influence the ranking of websites. Links from other sites, or backlinks, are considered “votes of confidence” by search engines to signify the expertise, authority and trustworthiness of websites.

Technical SEO

The technical aspect of search engine optimisation ensures websites follow the best coding practice and simplify the process for search engines to index websites. The technical aspect of SEO includes crawling, rendering, website architecture and site loading speed to assist with website ranking.

SEO Copywriting

Creatively written content that is keyword-optimised can appeal to both website visitors and search engine algorithms to meet the goal of improving user experience and ranking on search engine result pages. Our writers ensure content speaks to the audience to build brand equity but is also optimised to rank on search engines.

Local SEO

SEO for local businesses helps these businesses to rank higher in their local area to gain higher exposure when users search for relevant keywords nearby. 46% of all Google searches are seeking local products or services, yet 56% of local retailers do not have Google My Business (Google Business Profile) listing to showcase the best of their businesses.

Ecommerce SEO

SEO for Ecommerce websites puts efforts in product headlines, descriptions, metadata, navigational structure, internal link structure and more to improve visibility of online stores and customer conversion journey. With a business model built on online conversions, ecommerce SEO looks deeper than search engine ranking but the overall online brand awareness.

Common Mistakes that SEO Agencies May Be Making

Transparency is critical in the provision of search engine optimisation. SEO agencies are making changes directly on your business website. Not being transparent in what they have done and will perform is a major red flag in the lack of trustworthiness as a service provider to continue offer results-leading SEO service to your website.

Search engine optimisation has been around for years with multiple major algorithm updates that have shaken up the industry. Experience in the industry plays a part in future-proofing websites for another major algorithm update. SEO service providers should sound credible when they present their thinking about your website and demonstrate strategies to face upcoming changes.

A robust search engine optimisation strategy should bring notable difference to a website that is reflected on its ranking on search engine result pages. As a general rule-of-thumb, domains at least two years old should witness growth in three months.

Not all keywords are created equal. Keywords have different number of searches each month. Ranking first with low-traffic keywords are a dodgy strategy that some agencies adopt. However, low traffic keywords rarely bring quality visitors to websites and, in turn, do not bring conversions or sales.

SEO Terms You Must Know

Site audit refers to the process of evaluating a website from the eyes of search engine algorithms to assess the healthiness of the website. It’s a health check of a website to reveal vulnerabilities that may lead to underperformance and limitations.

A Sitemap is an XML file that lists the URLs for a site. It allows webmasters to include additional information about each URL: when it was last updated, how often it changes, and how important it is in relation to other URLs of the site.

The robots.txt file tells search engine crawlers which URLs the crawlers can, or should not, access under a domain. The file helps to minimise overloading a website with crawling requests, and should not be considered as a method to keep a web page out of Google.

Meta tags are snippets of text that describe content on a page to search engines. These tags do not appear to website visitors but are essential as a structured form of data that search engines can use to understand the context of a page.

Heading tags, or header tags, are used to identify headings on a webpage. There are six levels of headings ranked from h1 to h6 in order of importance. The levels provide search engine and users clearer structure of information on a page.

Canonical tags are used to lead search engine to the master copy of a page. Coded as “rel canonical”, this tag prevents issues caused by identical content on multiple URLs.

Image alt tags are textual descriptor of images. This tag is used to describe what is in the image for the benefits of search engine and visually impaired users on screen readers.

Links from other websites are knows as backlinks. Also called inbound links, these links can bring referral traffic to your website. Backlinks are “vote of confidence” from other websites to demonstrate the trustworthiness of a website to search engines. Higher quality and quantity backlinks have a positive effect on search engine ranking.

Domain authority, DA, is a search engine ranking score developed by Moz. The score predicts how likely a website is to rank in search engine result pages (SERPs). Domain authority score ranges from 1 to 100. The higher the score, the more likely a website is ranked.

404 pages, triggered by the HTTP 404 Not Found error, indicate a server cannot find the requested page. A broken link, or dead link, will lead to a 404 page, which its page authority will deteriorate over time. Not having a 404 page is detrimental to the search engine performance of a website.

301 redirect is a permanent link redirection in the HyperText Transfer Protocol, or HTTP. The 301 code indicates the resource requested has been definitively moved to the new URL.

Internal links refers to hyperlinks from one page to another under the same domain. These links within the same website show search engine crawlers the relation amongst pages under the same domain for the creation of a site structure.
